Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is one of the most populous and colorful cities in the country. The name of the city comes from Amstelredamme, a dam on the Amstel River. The city has one of the most deep-rooted urban textures in Europe with its structures, most of which date back to the 17th century.

The city center of Amsterdam, consisting of intertwined canals, is called the “City of Canals” for this feature. The historical buildings that are located on both sides of the canals and used today as homes, public buildings or private workplaces have become the symbol of the city. Located in the museum district, the Rijksmuseum's collection includes works such as The Night Watch and The Jewish Bride by Rembrandt and The Milkmaid by Vermeer.

 

Van Gogh Museum

Opened in 1973 and among the popular museums of Amsterdam, the Van Gogh Museum welcomes visitors from all over the world every year. Starry Night, one of the most famous works of Van Gogh, can be visited in this museum. The museum, which hosts more than 200 paintings and nearly 500 drawings, also exhibits works by painters that were inspired by Van Gogh.

 

Heineken Experience

One of the most authentic centers in Amsterdam, Heineken Experience was established on the site where the Heineken brand produced beer until 1988. With the increasing demand for the brand's products, the need to move to a larger facility arose and it was decided to transform this old facility into an experience center. Heineken Experience, which opened its doors in 2001, serves as a museum and touristic activity area. It is possible to participate in many activities in this area, from beer making workshops to beer tasting events, from concerts to open-air organizations.

 

Vondelpark
