Vecihi Gate

The Vecihi Gate is located at the entrance of Kemer Cemetery. Although it is not clear, it is known that this gate was located on the Silk Road in ancient times. The inscription on the gate says that the gate was built in 1321 according to the Rumi calendar. On the inscription: The name of this ancient work is Vecihi Gate. It was built in 1321 by Yanyalı Vecihi Orhon Bey Efendi, who served as the township director here for two periods. Fatiha to his holy soul and those who are buried. “Bir oğlum var idi 1500 yaşında ham tıraş. Bilseydim dünyada ölüm olduğunu, koymaz idim taş üstüne taş.” is written on it. It is also rumored that the door is a work of Mimar Sinan.

 

Rustem Pasha Mosque

Rustem Pasha Mosque is located in the center of Sapanca. This mosque, built in 1555 by Rustem Pasha, the son-in-law and vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent, was built by the journeymen of Mimar Sinan. The mosque has been exposed to many earthquakes and natural factors since the 16th century. It is still open for worship today.

 

Hasan Fehmi Pasha Mosque

Hasan Fehmi Pasha Mosque is located in Mahmudiye Village, 3 km away from Sapanca. The mosque was built in 1885 by Hasan Fehmi Pasha, one of the Ottoman viziers. While you visit the mosque, do not forget to check out the unique decorations inside. Additionally, the inscription on the mosque reads: “Selamün aleyküm tıbtüm fedhüluhü halildîyn. (Zümer Süresi 73. Ayet) "Peace be upon you. You have done well, so enter to abide herein."

 

Imperial Porphyry Sarcophagi

Imperial Porphyry Sarcophagi are located in front of the Government Office. There are 4 of these Sarcophagi. Two of the existing Sarcophagi were found during the construction of the Tem Highway in 1987 and the other two were found near İlmiye Village in 1976.

 

Rahime Sultan Mosque

Rahime Sultan Mosque was built by the wife of Sultan Abdülmecit in 1892. The mosque, located outside the center, has been damaged many times over time. The mosque, which was repaired in 1967, suffered damage to its minaret during the August 17 earthquake. However, today it is one of the few mosques that can preserve its original structure. There is the signature of Sultan Abdülmecit above the middle window and on the front façade.

 

Cami-i Cedid Mosque

This building, located in the bazaar, was built in 1895. It has regained its former beauty with recent restorations.

 

Sapanca Train Station

Located in the district center, Sapanca Train Station was completed in 1890 during the reign of II. Abdulhamid. The building was built by French Architect Hazelaire.

 

Bridge of Justinian

The Bridge of Justinian, a Byzantine period work, has been damaged many times due to natural disasters. There is no clear information yet about the purpose of the bridge, which was built by Justinian and has a history of 1500 years. The bridge, which has 12 arches, fascinates visitors with its size.
